When it’s time to clean the carpet in the house, we all labor over the do it yourself steam cleaning that you can rent at the store, or hiring a professional. We believe that we can get better results from hiring a professional steam cleaner but that is not always true.

Some carpet cleaning companies have a high turnover of staff. Some carpet cleaning technicians do not have the proper training in using the equipment. They also do not have the proper training in spot removal techniques.

Whether you hire a professional or whether you do it yourself the most important thing to remember is to go slow enough that you remove as much water as you can. If there is too much water left in the carpet, there is a risk that you damage the carpet but the risk to your health is much greater.

If too much water is put into the carpet it goes straight to the under pad. When this happens there is a danger that mould and mildew will form. Due to the sponge like texture of the under pad the the only way it can be properly dried is if it is lifted from the floor and air is able to circulate under the carpet. When mold and mildew start to form that is where the health risks begin.

The EPA recommends that people avoid mold and mildew in their homes, especially if any member of the family has a respiratory illness such as asthma. Mold and mildew can stress the lungs and in people with asthma, it can trigger an asthma attack. In children who don’t have asthma it is possible to distress the lungs and cause illnesses like bronchitis and asthma.

When you are steam cleaning the carpets it is difficult to tell if you are adding too much water. Going over one area of the carpet too many times will put too much moisture into the carpet. Stains can be stubborn to remove and it is the first instinct to add more water and keep trying, but that is not the answer. Professionals do use the steam more on those areas but their success lies in the knowledge of how to use the equipment as well as the selection of professional chemicals they use for stain removal.

Many people when they rent the do it yourself steam cleaners, if also buy the bottle of shampoo to clean the carpets as well. One of the major problems with that is the concentration and strength of that product is not very powerful. The reason it is made weaker is that the manufacturer assumes that consumers will not use it properly, and they do not want to be responsible for you damaging your carpet with their product, so it is diluted. There is not one cleaner that can remove all stains. When you hire a professional carpet cleaner they often show up with an assortment of different bottles and each one has a solution for a different stain one cleaner does not clean all carpets.

It is tempting to save a couple dollars and steam clean the carpets yourself, but the damage that you can cause your carpets could cost you thousands of dollars. Rippling carpets, faded color patches, damaged carpet fibers and worst of all mold, are all common problems people experience when they attempt to steam clean their own carpet. Just remember when you are deciding whether or not to hire professional carpet cleaner, the least expensive way is not always the cheapest!

There are a number of carpet cleaning companies, and all of them claim to be the best. In this article I will attempt to help identify the true professionals from the pretenders. Why might you ask should it matter? Aren’t they all the same? Nothing could be further from the truth. If you don’t do a small amount of homework you may have a technician show up at your house in hatchback with a Rug Doctor and wearing a FBI (female body inspector) hat.

First, you should consider the method you will use to find a reputable cleaner. The best way to find a good cleaner is to ask family and friends. Good cleaners will take care of their customers because they know referrals can make or break their business. If you are new to an area and don’t have many friends or you have been ostracized, you can always call the local Chamber of Commerce or the Better Business Bureau. However, you have to realize these are organizations that have paid memberships. So, they are going to recommend members first, regardless of whether they think they are the best or not. Lastly, you can go to the yellow pages of the local phone directory. Scan the ads for companies that list the services offered and what makes them different from all the others. Stay away from companies that have a picture of their nice vans or their family. Usually, these companies have nothing that sets them apart from the competition.

After you have a couple of good referrals or five or six companies from other sources, you should start calling. You should be aware that many bigger companies have customer service reps that will answer your call live; however, many carpet cleaners are owner operators that have to do everything themselves. It may take them a couple of hours to get back to you. If you call a company and they answer “hello”, it may be a sign that they are not very professional. A cleaning company should answer with they name of the business and give you their name.

Now that you have a live person on the phone I will give you some questions to ask to narrow your search. Ask if the technician will be using a self-contained truck mount. If they say no they will be using a portable, move on to the next company. Almost all portables will not produce the heat or vacuum to properly clean your carpet. Next, ask if they price by the square foot or by the room. Square foot pricing is preferable, that way you only pay for the area cleaned. Room or area pricing is very popular, but you are charged for the entire room, even if you have furniture that can’t be moved. Also, there is usually a maximum size of a room to be considered an area. So, if your living room is 300 sq. ft. and the max is 250 sq. ft., you will be charged for two rooms. Also, a hall may be considered an area, even if it is 50 sq. ft. Next, ask if the owner will be performing the work. Owners generally take much more pride in their work. Having the owner there is a definite plus. Ask if they are a low-moisture cleaner. Low-moisture cleaners use significantly less water than traditional steam cleaning. They specialize in cleaning to the base of the fiber without getting the pad or subfloor wet. As a side note, steam cleaning is a misnomer. Most cleaning methods are hot water extraction, but steam cleaning gets its name from the steam coming off the floor as the super hot water is applied. They do not actually use steam. We recommend low-moisture cleaning because typical steam cleaning uses high pressure water to blow dirt off the fiber and try to **** it back out. The problem is that it blows the dirt into the backing were it is next to impossible to get it back out. Also, you want to ask if the price quoted includes items such as vacuuming, pre-spraying, and furniture moving. Most reputable companies can answer these questions with little trouble. If you get someone one the phone that hesitates or fumbles their words, then that could be a warning.

So again, seek referrals from trusted friends or neighbors to find a good cleaner in your area. If that fails, test the waters of the Chamber, BBB, or yellow pages. Most likely, not all cleaners will meet all the requirements mentioned above; however, you can create a score card and go with the cleaner that scores the highest, good luck.

Steam cleaning proves to be the superior choice in the carpet care industry. The unique heating system, long lasting deep clean, ability to kill germs, bacteria, and dust mites, safe-bio-degradable cleaning agents, residue free finish, rapid drying time, and hot water extraction and rinsing prove to support the arguments that favor steam cleaning over “dry chemical cleaning” approaches.

The unique heating system helps to maintain the temperature for sanitation as well as agitating-with both water and vacuum extraction. This is the back bone of the physical removal procedure. The temperatures necessary to reach sanction levels in 130 degrees and higher. In order to attain this degree in temperature one should look into all companies with a fuel oil fired heating system usually located on a cleaning unit, such as a truck. Those with a built in truck-cleaning unit, such as Payless Carpet Cleaners, contain the sources necessary to ensure temperature levels are met. Some may have concerns in the result that there may be over-wetting issues or even shrinkage. The safest way to insure great results is to use a non-toxic citrus based compound. This type of compound is not only an exceedingly efficient cleaning agent, but also safe enough for the usage of pets and babies to walk and crawl on immediately after cleaning.

Dry chemical agents generally buff the surface. Steam cleaning provides the extraction of all dirt, grime, and debris, as well as bacteria, molds, mildew, animal dander, dust mites, viruses, and pollen, even below the surface, which provides a more long lasting deep clean, thanks to hot water extraction and rinsing. Hot Water Extraction, steam, because of its effectiveness in quality cleaning is recommended by 98% of the carpet mills. Not only is steam cleaning excellent to remove all particles but it also has the ability to leave no residue behind because of the rinsing strokes performed at the end of the cleansing cycle. After this most worry on the drying time, but with the gas-powered truck mounted equipment, they have the ability to extract moisture. Depending on the material this reduces drying time from anywhere to two to ten hours, which is in fact tremendous.

For more information, as well as the reference of this article, please refer to Payless Carpet Cleaners at http://www.payless-carpet-cleaners.com/carpet-cleaners.html.

Stains happen, and there is very little we can do to prevent them. If you have kids, dogs, cats, or anything else that can leave a stain on your carpet, then you are most likely going to go through the process of trying to get the stain out before your landlord or friends see it.

However, why should you waste the time using products from the grocery store that don’t work, and if they do, they cost way too much to use effectively. So, there is only one solution and it comes in the form of commercial carpet cleaning” that can get those pet stains and other stains through carpet cleaning that is done by professionals who know what they are doing.

Carpet cleaning is not something that we want to do, and it can be a complicated process that involves moving the furniture and using the right combination of chemicals to get out the various stains that may be in the carpet. It is important to remember that not all chemicals work on all stains, so you need someone who knows how to get the stains out of your carpet to come in and do carpet cleaning the right way.

With a company like New Jersey Carpet Cleaning, you will be able to sit back and relax as they take out those stains you thought could never disappear from your carpet. If you have a stain in a carpet that is an embarrassment to you when you have company over, then maybe you need to contact a carpet cleaning company like New Jersey Carpet Cleaning to get those pet stains out, while doing some much needed upholstery cleaning.

Carpet cleaning is something people do not want to do, and like moving, it is best left to the people who do it for a living. They have chosen it as a career because it is either something they enjoy, or something they are good at. Whether it is getting out pet stains, carpet cleaning or upholstery cleaning, why not just let someone else do it? It will cost a little more but the job will be done right by a professional and all you have to do is sit at the kitchen table with a coffee while you read the paper, which is a pretty good way to clean your carpet.

Steam Cleaning provides an effective way of cleaning dirt, dust, grime and stains in your house. Steam Cleaning works on environmentally sound and stable technology offering value and affordable cleaning solutions for commercial and household use. Steam cleaning equipment consists of a sealed boiler which is filled with tap water enabling heating of water between 240-260 degrees. The vapor thus generated is lighter then air we inhale, and carries 5-6 % moisture making it an effective tool to uproot and remove dirt and stains from variety of surfaces. Steam Cleaning offers eco-friendly ways to clean our house walls, kitchens, and tiles without use of harmful and environmentally degrading chemicals. There is no expulsion of harmful gases in the air during Steam Cleaning making it most sought after option of the modern day cleaning needs. Steam Cleaning doesn’t affect the indoor quality of air.

Steam Cleaning has been in use since seventies, but did not catch up with household consumers due to cost and bulky machine setup. Steam cleaners have grown smaller in size, efficient in use and portable to carry around. You have had your share of spills and stains on your carpets followed by a frenzy of frantic calls to Steam Cleaning services for help. No doubt, the Steam Cleaning professionals were quick to respond, but not before you paid exorbitant charges and waited for them to arrive with their whims and fancies.

So, what can you do to make it faster and affordable? Probably you need to buy a steam cleaner to get rid of your cleaning troubles. Steam Cleaning enables dry vapor to penetrate deep in to the pores and dislodge the impurities and embedded foreign particles without use of detergent and toxic cleaners. Steam Cleaning is an eco-friendly process relying on use of tap water.
There are two different types of steam cleaners: Cooler and humid Steam cleaners: These cleaners don’t boil water producing cooler steam with more moisture content. Hot and dry Steam Cleaners: These cleaners boil water above 240 degrees to generate hot and dry steam.

Steam Cleaning eliminates residue from all types of surfaces, killing fungus, mold, mildew, viruses, and bacteria. Steam Cleaning facilitates cleaning of floors, window sills, bathrooms, kitchens, granite, upholstery, fiberglass, and hard to clean nooks and crannies of the house. Steam Cleaner removes soil, grease and debris from the surface, sanitizes and deodorizes it. It must be noted that heat sensitive surfaces like thin plastics and silks are difficult to clean using dry vapor.

If you call me and ask for a certain method that I feel is inferior I will also be honest with you & try & pursuade you to go with the best method to perform what you want from me – carpet cleaning.

The most labor intensive method there is – Truckmount Steam Cleaning, the most expensive method for me to maintain & operate – Truckmount Steam Cleaning. The most expensive carpet cleaning system for me to purchase – Truckmount Steam Cleaning.

So why would I want to have to purchase the big cargo van, the Truckmount carpet cleaning machine, water tanks, hose reels, carpet cleaning wands, rotary jet extraction tools, upholstery tools, flood tools and the list goes on, when I can just go out & buy myself a Floor Buffer & operate on a shoestring budget & follow in the foot steps of the Chemical Dry Franchise company that has used Fear Marketing for decades to convince you that water is evil & dry is good? I can fool you by rearranging the dirt & not rinsing & extracting it out with a Floor Buffer & a bonnet and call it Healthy Dry Cleaning but I would be a liar! You could take a wash cloth, spray some magic chemical in your hair & rub it in & call your hair cleaned but you know it really is not. You could be honest & take your head into the shower & give it a shampoo & a good rinse and really say it is clean.

If I want Clients instead of one time Customers wouldn’t I rather be honest, ethical & professional? So, why not give them what works – Deep down Flush & Rinse, Hot, Truckmount Carpet Cleaning power to extract all that bacteria, pollen, dust mites & who knows what else right out of the carpet & into my truck.

Listen, I use all methods of carpet cleaning & I will tell you that regardless of having to work hard & dig into my overhead to give you true carpet cleaning without leaving most of the soil behind with a load of chemical residue in your home will not happen! I know what works with these other methods & it does not work in the home – common sense.

Quality Truckmount Carpet Cleaning companies do not leave your carpets wet for days like you may hear in the Dry Carpet Cleaning companies marketing spins. They do take advantage of the hack companies that "Bait & Switch" or will clean a room for $14.95. These outfits can not afford to clean properly or operate with quality equipment and you just may get carpets that take 3 days to dry. Did you ever really get the quality brake job for your entire vehicle for $39.95?

Before you consider the Dry Carpet Cleaning Process or similar methods that may have other names to disguise it, please use common sense and ask "where does the dirt really go"?

Ask yourself "why does my carpet warranty require truckmounted steam cleaning (hot water extraction)to keep it in force"?

The Dry Cleaning companies will try to scare you into such things as mold as if it it could really sprout from anything synthetic such as a synthetic nylon carpet and soaked carpets for 3 days as if this was still 1955 when floor buffers used to clean rugs.

This is 2008 and there has been drastic changes in equipment & tools to provide you with short inconvenient dry times from 2-6 hours for Truck mount Steam Cleaning service.

Cut pile, loop pile, plush, shag, velvet, embroidery are all examples of some of the available carpeting, upholstery and tapestry choices, each with their own unique benefits. Unfortunately, they all come with a similar problem: the potential to cause a health hazard wherever they are installed because they all trap dust, dirt, moisture and odors, providing the perfect breeding ground for mites and various bacteria, including potentially life threatening mold spores. Routine sweeping and vacuuming definitely helps. Professional cleaning at regular intervals is essential – but only if you take heed to the recommendations below. Professional carpet cleaning, if not carried out responsibly and by a reputable firm that you have researched thoroughly, can be almost as harmful as leaving the problem unattended.

1.	Admit you need to take better care of your carpets, rugs, tapestries and upholstery. Having your carpets, rugs, tapestries and upholstery professionally cleaned once every twelve to eighteen months is not a matter of choice, it’s a matter of health; it’s a matter of protecting and lengthening the life of your investment in your home and office furnishings.

2.	Prevention is worth an ounce of cure – tip #1: If you don’t already have one, buy a welcome mat for each entrance to your home or business and encourage it use. A mat will act as a receptacle for large particles and dirt and other materials that may have attached themselves to the soles of your shoes.

3.	Prevention is worth and ounce of cure – tip #2: Prevent the pile of your carpet from being crushed and worn before its time by putting a throw rug or small carpet in front of especially heavily trafficked areas, like in front of your favorite chair.

4.	Commit to sweeping or vacuuming once a week. Vacuuming will remove superficial dust and dirt. Vacuum all surfaces – sofas, chairs, wall hangings, rugs, throw rugs, and of course, carpets – thoroughly using back and forth movements.

5.	Move the furniture. Moving the furniture to vacuum will allow you to get to hard to reach spots. Adjust furniture placement – even an inch or two every time you vacuum – will allow the spots crushed by furniture legs to recover.

6.	Treat spots immediately. It’s true. If you don’t treat a spill as soon as it happens, it’s likely to set and become a permanent, or much harder to remove, stain. Stay away from chemical treatments which may damage your carpet. Start with cold water. In most cases, a little baking soda will do the trick.

7.	Know your carpet. Before you buy your carpet, ask these questions: Has it been treated with moth repellant? Is it soil resistant? Does it require dry cleaning? How long is the warranty and what does it cover?

8.	Have your carpets professional cleaned at least once every twelve to eighteen months, more often for high-use areas. Don’t take our word for it, check you carpet manufacturer’s recommendation.

9.	Know what deep cleaning method is right for your carpet. It has been proven that the most efficient way to clean, disinfect and sanitize carpets, rugs, tapestry and upholstery is the high-powered water extraction method, especially when carried out using truck mounted water extraction equipment. Truck mounted cleaning systems are self contained powerful units that are typically installed on vans. This is the only way that these machines can be transferred to any site. Truck mounts act like a portable washing machine for your carpets, cleaning with the power of steam and then extracting the water with dynamic pumps. The process is quicker than many other traditional processes and does not leave any chemical residue behind. Only clean, fresher smelling, newer looking results.

10.	Find a professional carpet cleaning company that knows what to do and how to do it. Don’t be afraid to use your newly gained knowledge to demand that the person who cleans your carpets knows even more. Ask questions, Research cleaning methods and check customer satisfaction levels. Insist on steam cleaning with the proper equipment or you may find yourself with a carpet that looks clean on the surface, but due to inefficient drying (a by-product of low quality, low-powered steam cleaning) is actually breeding mold beneath the surface.

Carpets, rugs, tapestries and upholstery are common elements in virtually all human environments. They add beauty, comfort, style, warmth. They effectively buffer sound, and protect underlying floor surfaces, and even protect you, to some extent, if you or a loved one happens to slip or fall. Whether you bought your carpet at the supermarket or it is a family heirloom, protect your investment and your family. Have your carpets professionally cleaned using high-powered water extraction machines (steam cleaning).
